CMSS Students Win Hearts and Minds at MPSA 2017

The Midwestern Political Science Association’s annual conference is one of the largest academic conferences in North America - with over 5700 attendees, it is one of the premier events for junior and senior scholars in the field of political science. The conference attracts presenters from across the United States and over fifty-five other countries.

Two CMSS students were invited to present at the 75th Annual MPSA Conference in Chicago, Illinois, April 6-9th, 2017: PhD candidate Alexander Salt, and MSS student Harris Stephenson.

Alexander and Harris both presented papers on the panel Military Organization and Preparedness. Alexander’s paper “From Blue to Brown and Green?: Understanding US Naval Change in the Post Cold War Era” and Harris’ paper “Too Light to Fight Right: Reconciling the Light Division with the Military Culture of the United States Army” were both well received. The pair also co-authored and presented a paper entitled “An Urban Education: United States Land Power and the Iraq War” for the panel Military Force and War.
