Graduate students and faculty affiliated with CMSS and the Department of History are invited to a conversation with Dr. Sean Brady, currently resident at CMSS as a James M. Flaherty Research Scholar, a program sponsored by the Ireland Canada University Foundation and aimed at fostering scholarly exchange between Canada and Ireland.

Since completing his Ph.D. in November 2014 at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Dr. Brady has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of History and as a member of the Centre for War Studies (TCD). He has also taught at University College Dublin, Maynooth University and the University of Strasbourg.

Dr. Brady recently completed a book manuscript on the First World War and the making of modern Sicily (1914 - 1948), and is now researching international military occupations in the immediate aftermath of the First World War. This new project focuses on military and civilian occupation experiences in British-occupied Germany, Italian-occupied Austria, and French-occupied Turkey between 1918 and 1920.

In a dialog with CMSS Fellow Frank Towers and the audience, Dr. Brady will discuss his research, the state of twentieth century war studies in Europe, and opportunities for funded research in Ireland and Europe. Join us for this end of semester gathering.
