Research interests: Cryptography (data security) and computational number theory. In particular, I am involved in investigating the suitability of certain number-theoretic structures and problems as bases for public-key cryptosystems, enabling applications such as secure key-exchange and digital signatures. The efficiency of such cryptosystems is tested by implementing the best-known algorithms and devising improvements. The security is tested by developing sequential and distributed algorithms for solving the underlying number-theoretic problem.

Research interests: Research Interests: An environmental and historical anthropologist who studies how natural resources and the methods of their extraction interact with political, intellectual, military and economic systems over time. Acknowledging the often violent, large-scale and long-term commitments necessary to unearth ores and keep them moving to their markets, Peric uses both ethnography and archival research to reveal the cosmopolitan and cross-cultural dynamics of these industrial processes. In particular, Peric is interested in the relationship between, on the one hand, local knowledge and experience, and on the other, the demands of Western science-based resource economies.

Research interests: Currently completing a book on military change in the US Marine Corps from Vietnam to the second Iraq War.  Also completing, with an international group of scholars, an edited volume on military transformation in Europe, as well as working on a co-authored piece on European officers attitudes toward military transformation and sole authored analysis of the new US President and US security policy. He is starting to conduct research on military change in the US Army since the 1991 Gulf War and on lessons learned of Iraq (and Afghanistan) and military change in the US military.
